Turkmenistan and Angola Strengthen Diplomatic Ties through Parity Accreditation of Ambassadors
Permanent Representatives of Turkmenistan and Angola to the United Nations, Ambassador Aksoltan Atayeva and Cruz Francisco Jose Da, recently met to discuss issues of interaction on the platform of the Community of Nations and bilateral cooperation. They both expressed their support for the parity accreditation of ambassadors as a means to strengthen diplomatic ties between Ashgabat and Luanda.
The meeting, which took place on June 13 at the office of the Turkmen mission to the UN, saw a constructive exchange of views on the common agenda. The diplomats highlighted the significant convergence of positions, foreign policy priorities, and initiatives promoted by both countries. They focused on important areas such as preventive diplomacy, ensuring peace and security, combating terrorism, addressing climate change, and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
During the discussion, the role of youth and women in these processes was emphasized. The ambassadors recognized the need to exchange experiences and expressed readiness to strengthen ties and establish direct channels of communication between national governments. This would facilitate mutual information, coordination of actions, and the development of joint initiatives. The establishment of regular dialogue and more effective bilateral interaction would be achieved through these measures. Additionally, prospects for organizing visits and bilateral meetings at various levels were also explored during the meeting.
The Ambassadors reiterated their commitment to support candidates and initiatives of interest to both countries. They emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation to achieve their respective priorities and deepen multilateral partnership.
It is noteworthy that Turkmenistan and Angola established diplomatic relations on June 18, 1997. Angola, with its capital in Luanda, is a member of the Group of Friends on Sustainable Transport, which was established within the framework of the UN under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan.
Through their discussion and commitment to parity accreditation of ambassadors, Turkmenistan and Angola are taking concrete steps to strengthen their diplomatic ties. This will undoubtedly foster closer collaboration and cooperation between the two nations, benefitting their respective societies and promoting mutual prosperity.
