The Council for Persons with Disabilities Discusses Rights and Integration in Bishkek
On September 26, 2024, the Presidential Administration in Bishkek hosted a meeting of the Council for Persons with Disabilities under the Cabinet of Ministers. The meeting, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, welcomed the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities, Heba Hagrass, as a special guest.
During the meeting, the participants discussed important topics related to the protection of the rights of people with disabilities, the development of rehabilitation centers, and the implementation of social projects aimed at improving their living conditions and integration into society.
Edil Baisalov emphasized the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for people with special needs, stating that it is an indicator of the maturity of society. He highlighted the significance of the state creating conditions for the full participation of individuals with disabilities in the country’s life.
Following the meeting, the participants were given a tour of the Presidential Administration building. They were shown ramps, elevators, and other amenities that make the building accessible to people with disabilities, emphasizing the commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
