Unanimous Approval of Supreme Administrative Court Authorization Amendment Proposal – BRTK
Proposal to Amend Supreme Administrative Court Authorization Law Approved Unanimously
The General Assembly of the Republic Assembly has unanimously approved the Supreme Administrative Court Authorization (Amendment) Law Proposal. The proposal was read by UBP MP Sunat Atun, Chairman of the Administrative, Public, and Health Affairs Committee.
In a statement regarding the proposal, CTP deputy Ürün Solyalı explained that the purpose of the amendment is to expedite the Supreme Court system and accelerate the conclusion of cases. Solyalı emphasized the importance of conducting sincere work on this issue, despite the rejection of the Constitutional Referendum, to meet the needs of the system.
Solyalı highlighted the significance of having a two-tier court system in place, where decisions made by lower courts are subject to review by the court of appeal. Additionally, a provision for creating a staff to assist Supreme Court judges in preparing their files was also discussed.
UBP MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu expressed support for the proposed amendment as a way to alleviate the workload of the Supreme Court. He clarified that the amendment focused on hiring personnel to provide legal advice to judges, rather than appointing judges directly. Hasipoğlu underscored the necessity for action by the Supreme Council of Judiciary to facilitate the employment process.
Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova announced plans to introduce a proposal and bill in Parliament to improve the efficiency and speed of the Supreme Court. Berova disclosed that new private contract personnel would be recruited to support the judges in their work.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and his government partners are committed to ensuring the effective functioning of the Supreme Court, despite financial challenges. Berova reaffirmed their dedication to addressing demands in this area positively and proactively.
The approved amendment marks a significant step towards optimizing the Supreme Administrative Court’s operations and enhancing the judicial process in the Republic.
