BRTK U16 Women’s Basketball Championship celebrates Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation’s 60th Anniversary
The BRTK U16 women’s basketball championship, with the theme “One Spirit, One Victory”, is underway as part of the 60th-anniversary celebrations of the Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation. This high-profile championship includes teams from Turkey and Azerbaijan and is being hosted by Levent Sports Club.
In his opening remarks, Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation Director Meryem Özkurt emphasized the significance of the corporation in representing the voice of Turkish Cypriots to the world over the past six decades. Özkurt also thanked Levent Schools for hosting the event and extended a warm welcome to the participating teams from Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The President of the Basketball Federation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Orhun Mevlit, commended Levent Spor and Levent College for their contributions to the development of women’s basketball in the TRNC. He expressed his commitment to nurturing a sustainable basketball community and pledged ongoing support for the sport’s growth.
The event also saw President Ersin Tatar recognize the importance of breaking down barriers in sports and promoting brotherhood between nations. He emphasized the need for solidarity and cooperation between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC.
The highly anticipated championship will conclude with an award ceremony scheduled for tomorrow after six matches that promise to deliver thrilling competition.
