Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Public Works, Zoning, Transport and Tourism Commission and AKP Trabzon Deputy, recently spoke about the ongoing work of the commission. The commission is responsible for covering public works, zoning, transportation, and tourism and has significant agendas for the development of life.
Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the commission aims to come up with legal solutions to the issues experienced in the field during the tenure of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of focusing on public transportation, especially in metropolitan cities like Istanbul, where reducing traffic congestion is a top priority.
The Deputy also stressed that reducing traffic congestion in cities is possible with quality, safe, and economical public transportation like metros, trams, and rail systems. He mentioned that the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has been making important contributions to Istanbul, completing 50 kilometers of rail system investment in the last year alone and planning to complete another 50 kilometers in the coming months.
Karaismailoğlu also pointed out the need to solve the problems of tradesmen who own license plates. He mentioned that the commission is working to create the infrastructure to address the concerns of citizens and tradesmen who have been involved in the public transportation sector for years. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of operating rail system lines in an integrated manner with rubber-wheeled vehicles and ensuring quality and safety within the framework of certain principles and rules.
The Deputy also highlighted that the usage rate of public transportation by the wealthy is an important measure of a country’s development level. He believes that by improving public transportation, the quality of life can be made easier, safer, and more economical.
