Landslide in Samsun: Vehicle Hit by Falling Rocks at Fuel Station
A sudden landslide in the Canik district of Samsun has left one person injured after rocks fell onto a vehicle at a fuel station. The incident occurred late at around 11 p.m., next to a shopping mall in the area.
Initial reports indicate that debris from the mountainside crashed into the car wash section of the fuel station. Emergency teams quickly mobilized to the scene, as there were concerns that individuals might be trapped under the rubble.
Rescue Operations Underway
Authorities dispatched a significant number of search and rescue personnel, alongside medical teams, in a race against time to locate those potentially buried beneath the debris. During the operation, a woman was successfully rescued and treated for injuries. Heavy machinery has been brought to the site to assist with the removal of rocks, as rescue efforts continue.
Samsun Mayor Halit Dogan provided an update, stating, "The roadside vehicle washing station has collapsed into a separate compartment. One citizen has survived with injuries. We believe his wife and children may still be in the vehicle. Our teams are working tirelessly."
Samsun Governor Orhan Tavli also commented on the situation, confirming that a family was in the vehicle at the time of the incident. "One person has been injured and evacuated, and the situation is stable. Search efforts are ongoing for the remaining individuals," Tavli stated.
As rescue teams work diligently to ensure the safety of those involved, the community remains hopeful for a successful outcome.
