US Astronaut Artificial Williams Makes History

NASA astronaut Scott Williams has broken the record for the longest space walk in history, surpassing the previous record set by Astronaut Peggy Whitson. Williams, along with his colleague Butch Wilmore, spent 5 hours and 26 minutes conducting a space walk to protect the equipment on the International Space Station (ISS) and collect surface material samples for analysis at the Destiny laboratory.

With this latest space walk, Williams now holds the title for the longest cumulative space walking time, totaling 62 hours and 6 minutes. The two astronauts were originally scheduled to return to Earth on a one-week test flight with Boeing’s new Starliner capsule on June 5, 2024. However, due to technical issues with the capsule, their return has been postponed indefinitely, leaving them stranded at the ISS.

It is anticipated that Williams and Wilmore will not be able to return to Earth until the end of March or beginning of April, with their stay at the space station likely to last around 10 months. In the meantime, US President Donald Trump has reached out to Elon Musk and SpaceX for assistance in bringing the astronauts back safely.

Musk has expressed his commitment to facilitating the return of the stranded astronauts in the shortest possible time. The situation remains a top priority for both NASA and SpaceX as they work towards a solution.
