US President Joe Biden Responds to Attack on American Base
US President Joe Biden has made a statement in response to the recent attack on the American base on the Jordan-Syria border, where three soldiers lost their lives. Biden stated, “I don’t think we need a broader war in the Middle East, that’s not what we’re looking for.” When asked if he had decided how to respond to the attacks, Biden answered, “Yes.”
Biden also addressed the issue of Iran’s responsibility for the attack, stating, “I hold them responsible in the sense that they provided weapons to those who carried out the attacks.”
The White House has announced that an investigation is being conducted to determine the extent of Iran’s involvement in the attack. White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby discussed the attack in a press briefing, stating that President Joe Biden has made a decision on how to respond to the attack.
Kirby also mentioned that the Pentagon is still investigating the UAV used in the attack, and emphasized that the response from the US is likely to be multi-layered and spread over time.
In his first statement regarding the attack, President Biden stated that the attack was carried out by radical militant groups supported by Iran and operating in Syria and Iraq. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that three soldiers were killed and 34 people were injured in the drone attack on the American base in Jordan.
