Demining Efforts Critical for Return to Azerbaijan’s Liberated Territories
Baku, Azerbaijan – The return of people to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories hinges significantly on demining efforts, according to Basanth Sadasivan, a traveler from the United States. Speaking to Report, Sadasivan emphasized the importance of clearing landmines that were planted during the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, stating that thousands remain in these regions.
“Demining is essential for erasing a very negative chapter in Azerbaijan’s history,” Sadasivan noted. He highlighted that ensuring safety is crucial for the displaced population wishing to return to their homes. “Demining activities are vital for people to come back, live in safe conditions, and find happiness. It is imperative that everyone collaborates for a brighter future.”
On April 26, members of the international travelers club NomadMania visited the Jabrayil district as part of their 13th expedition to explore the liberated areas of Azerbaijan. Their presence serves to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges and the necessity for continued demining operations to restore normalcy in these communities.
As Azerbaijan progresses toward renewing its liberated territories, the collaboration among local and international communities will play a pivotal role in shaping a secure environment for returning residents.
