The United States Reaffirms Commitment to Diplomacy with North Korea
A recent statement from the US State Department reiterated the country’s commitment to diplomacy despite North Korea’s recent launch of a high number of ballistic missiles.
The statement emphasized the USA’s desire to engage in “unconditional dialogue” with the Pyongyang administration and clarified that the country does not hold any hostile intentions towards North Korea. The United States continues to work with South Korea, Japan, and other partners to address North Korea’s aggression and its violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
On December 17, North Korea reportedly launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan, followed by the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile towards the same location at 8:24 AM local time the following day.
To address North Korea’s missile activities, the USA, South Korea, and Japan have implemented a system for simultaneous sharing of warning data. The goal of this collaboration is to detect and evaluate North Korean missile launches, ensure security, and make advancements in this field.
Despite the recent missile launches, the United States remains committed to diplomatic efforts to address the situation with North Korea and its allies in the region.
