Uzbek Consumers Steal Billions in Gas and Electricity
The illegal use of electricity and natural gas by some consumers in Uzbekistan on December 15 has resulted in a staggering 73 billion 274 million soums worth of damage to the state interest.
According to control activities conducted in cooperation with experts from the Uzenergoinspektsiya under the Ministry of Energy, the SSS, and the PGO, it was found that 411 consumers were responsible for the illegal use of natural gas and electricity, causing significant financial harm to the state.
In specific regions, energy resources worth 25 billion 293 million soums were unlawfully used in Tashkent region in 20 cases, over 11 billion 308 million soums in Tashkent city in 30 cases, and more than 7 billion soums in Fergana region in 52 cases.
As a result of these findings, relevant documents have been submitted to law enforcement agencies in order to take measures against the violating consumers in accordance with the law.
The unauthorized use of energy resources not only poses a threat to the state’s interests but also contributes to financial losses that ultimately affect the country’s overall economic stability. It is crucial for individuals and businesses to use energy resources responsibly and within the parameters of the law to prevent such detrimental consequences.
