Uzbek Sentenced for Shooting in Shymkent
A 49-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a shooting incident that occurred in the center of Shymkent in February this year. The man was found guilty of illegal manufacturing and carrying of weapons and attempted murder. The shooter had borrowed money from a friend and bought a weapon for 200,000 tenge, which he later converted into a sawn-off gun. He had also previously been tried in Russia for murder, for which he had spent 10 years in prison before being released. The court verdict has not yet entered into force, and the convict has 15 days to appeal. The man will serve his sentence in a medium-security institution of the penitentiary system. It should be noted that during the incident, the shooter had attacked a seller in the Arsenal hunting store on Ryskulbekov Street in Shymkent.
