Uzbekistan aims to attract 1 million Chinese tourists
A business forum was recently held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on June 18, with the participation of representatives from the Chinese tourism sector. The forum, dedicated to promoting the tourism potential of Uzbekistan in China and strengthening business ties between the two countries, was attended by about 200 representatives from both countries.
One significant highlight of the event was the arrival of representatives from Xi’an to Samarkand on the first regular flight of Loong Air, marking a milestone in the cooperation between the two nations in the tourism industry.
Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Umid Shadiyev, announced plans to launch the “Year of Uzbek Tourism in China” in September, with the goal of attracting 1 million Chinese tourists to Uzbekistan by promoting the country’s rich culture, heritage, and values.
Meetings between Uzbekistan and China representatives took place in a B2B format during the forum, where discussions on the current state of the tourism industry and opportunities for cooperation were held. The event was seen as a significant step in developing business relations between the two countries and enhancing Uzbekistan’s position in the global tourism market.
In addition, the first regular flight from Xi’an of Loong Air to Samarkand International Airport on June 16 marked a new chapter in air connectivity between the two countries. Loong Air, with 74 aircraft, operates flights to various cities in China and other countries, including Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek-Chinese business forum is expected to boost the tourism industry in Uzbekistan and foster stronger ties between the two nations in the field of tourism. The event signifies a promising future for collaboration and growth in the tourism sector between Uzbekistan and China.
