Uzbekistan and China to Increase Mutual Flights to 100 per Week

Uzbekistan and China Sign Agreement to Expand Air Connectivity

On January 24, following discussions in Beijing, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, signed a significant number of documents. One of the key agreements reached was the joint construction of the “Air Silk Road” by the relevant departments of both countries.

The day before, Uzbekistan and China had also agreed to increase the number of mutual flights to 100 per week, with 50 flights allocated to each country’s airlines. This move will also see an expansion in the geography of flights. Previously limited to seven cities, airlines from the two countries will now be able to fly to an unlimited number of cities. Additionally, an unlimited number of airlines will be able to service these flights, compared to the previous restriction of three companies.

These developments were the result of negotiations between the delegation of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Aviation Administration of the People’s Republic of China in Beijing. A protocol was signed following the meeting, with the agreement set to take effect in April this year after a meeting of the competent authorities and the completion of domestic procedures by the People’s Republic of China, as reported by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

These agreements signify a significant step towards enhancing air connectivity between Uzbekistan and China, and are expected to further strengthen the economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
