Uzbekistan and China to Increase Weekly Flight Frequency to 100

The “C5+1 China-Central Asia Civil Aviation Conference” held in Xi’an, China from June 17 to 21 resulted in significant changes in the aviation sector between Uzbekistan and China. Representatives from both countries engaged in discussions that led to revisions in the bilateral intergovernmental Air Transport Agreement, paving the way for an increase in the number of flights and the opening of new air routes.

One of the key proposals put forward by Uzbekistan was the removal of restrictions on the number of airlines and flight destinations under the Agreement. As a result of the negotiations, both countries agreed to increase the total number of flights to 100 per week from each side. This expansion also included allowing designated airlines to operate from additional cities and airports.

Specific agreements reached during the conference included doubling the number of authorized airlines for regular flights between Uzbekistan and China, increasing the number of cities for Uzbekistan’s airlines to operate regular flights to China, and granting Chinese designated airlines the right to operate flights to all international airports in Uzbekistan.

Additionally, both sides were granted fifth freedom of the air rights for cargo flights to third countries, with up to 21 flights per week. This agreement also allowed designated airlines from both countries to conduct passenger flights to third countries via specific international airports.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan’s designated airlines gained special privileges to operate flights under the fifth freedom of the air rights from select international airports in China. The agreements also extended to code-share agreements, aircraft leasing, and charter flights.

Overall, the outcomes of the conference have opened up new opportunities for cooperation and growth in the aviation sector between Uzbekistan and China, leading to enhanced connectivity and increased air travel options for passengers from both nations.
