Uzbekistan and Egypt to Collaborate on New Chamber of Commerce

Uzbekistan and Egypt Strengthen Economic Ties with Creation of Joint Chamber of Commerce

Uzbekistan and Egypt are taking steps to bolster their economic relationship with the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce. The initiative, aimed at promoting trade and industrial cooperation between the two nations, was announced following a meeting on September 26 between Davron Vakhobov, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), and Ahmad Shahin, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

The meeting, which took place in Tashkent, also saw the participation of Amira Fahmi, Egypt’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, and Sukhrob Yunusov, Deputy Head of “Uztekstilprom.” Discussions during the meeting centered around enhancing trade, investment, and industrial collaboration, with a focus on exploring joint projects to boost mutual export potential.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the decision to establish the Uzbekistan-Egypt Chamber of Commerce. This new entity is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating business partnerships between the two countries, providing a platform for business leaders to connect and streamline commercial activities.

Earlier in June, the Uzbekistan CCI signed an agreement with Egypt’s Al-Nasr Export-Import company, aiming to facilitate the exchange of market information and set up trade houses in Egypt for Uzbek products. As part of the collaboration, a distribution and industrial cooperation center is set to open in Port Said, serving as a hub for exporting goods from Uzbekistan to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Moreover, in the summer of 2023, the Uzbekistan CCI and the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association agreed to establish a business council to further promote bilateral trade and investment. Authorities in Port Said have expressed their willingness to create conducive conditions for Uzbek companies operating in the region.

The creation of the joint chamber of commerce marks a significant milestone in the deepening economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt, setting the stage for increased collaboration and mutual benefit in the years to come.
