Uzbekistan and Kuwait Presidents Meet to Boost Bilateral Relations

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah of Kuwait recently met in Kuwait City to discuss expanding cooperation between their two countries. The leaders agreed to enhance collaboration in trade, economics, investment, and green energy, aiming to strengthen their bilateral relations.

During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and congratulated the Kuwaiti leadership and people on their upcoming national holidays. He also praised Kuwait’s “Vision 2035” state program, noting its alignment with Uzbekistan’s New Development Strategy.

The discussions focused on key areas of cooperation such as green energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transportation, infrastructure, healthcare, and tourism. To facilitate joint projects, mechanisms like the Investment Platform and Business Council were established, and plans were made to open a trade house in Kuwait City. Additionally, both leaders emphasized the importance of cultural and tourism exchange, as well as mutual support within international organizations.

One significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement to hold the “Central Asia – GCC” summit in Samarkand in May 2025. This summit aims to enhance cooperation between Central Asian countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council member states.

At the conclusion of the discussions, President Mirziyoyev extended an invitation to the Emir to visit Uzbekistan, further strengthening the ties between the two nations. Overall, the meeting marked a significant step towards deepening the comprehensive partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait.
