Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to Collaborate on Annual Production of 30 Thousand Cars

A joint project between Uzavtosanoat and Kyrgyzstan will see the annual production of 30 thousand cars starting in 2024. The collaboration will involve the launch of production for 12 car models, as reported by the Kabar news agency with reference to the Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Republic, Daniyar Amangeldiyev.

The Altyn-Tulpar car assembly plant, a joint project with Uzavtosanoat, is currently being prepared for commissioning. According to the Minister, it is expected to reach its designed capacity next year as construction and commissioning work is being completed.

Uzavtosanoat reached an agreement to organize car production in Kyrgyzstan during a business forum between the two countries on January 27. The DT Technik company will be the concern’s partner in the joint venture.

The first year of operation of the plant aims to produce 10 thousand cars using the large-unit assembly method. This production is expected to increase to 30 thousand cars in the future, with plans to expand to small-unit production and localize some components within Kyrgyzstan.

Construction of the plant for the assembly and production of cars in the Chui region began in mid-May. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov emphasized the strategic importance of the project for both countries. The joint project marks a significant step in the collaboration between the two nations and is expected to have a positive impact on the automotive industry in the region.
