Uzbekistan and Malaysia Collaborate on Agricultural Drone Production

Uzbekistan and Malaysia Strengthen Collaboration in the Agricultural Sector
Uzbekistan and Malaysia are deepening their partnership in the agricultural sector with a focus on various areas of cooperation. A delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, regional and district leaders from Tashkent and Kashkadarya, and representatives from agricultural clusters is currently on an official visit to Malaysia to explore opportunities for collaboration.
During the visit, agreements were made to foster practical cooperation in a range of fields, including the production of smart agricultural technologies and drones, rice cultivation, fish farming, rubber production, and the export of fruits, vegetables, and silk products.
A significant milestone of the visit was the signing of an agreement with the Malaysian company Meraque to locally manufacture smart agricultural machinery and drones at the Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization in Yangiyul district, Tashkent region.
Furthermore, a collaboration between the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute and the Center for Knowledge and Innovations in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan will involve the exchange of salt-tolerant, drought-resistant, black, long-grain, and aromatic rice varieties for trial planting and multiplication. This partnership will also see the sharing of “Devzira” rice seeds produced in Uzbekistan with Malaysia.
Projects focused on intensive fish farming, biofloc technology, and shrimp cultivation will be launched in Uzbekistan with the support of the Fisheries Department of the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Uzbekistan Fish Industry Association using Malaysian technologies.
Cooperation with the Malaysian Agricultural Marketing Agency will aid in the export of Uzbekistan’s fruits, vegetables, and silk products to international markets.
Additionally, an agreement with Malaysia’s Jakim organization will facilitate the organization of training courses to assist Uzbek farmers and entrepreneurs in obtaining Halal certification.
The strengthened collaboration between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in the agricultural sector is expected to bring about technological advancements, knowledge sharing, and mutual benefits for both countries.
