
Uzbekistan and Malta Agree to Regular Political Consultations

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with Deputy Prime Minister of Malta and OSCE Chairman
On September 21, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, had a meeting with Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, and Trade of Malta, who is also the current Chairman of the OSCE, in New York.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Malta, as well as the potential for further development of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. As a result of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta to conduct political consultations.
In a statement shared on his Telegram channel, Minister Saidov expressed his optimism about the opportunities that this memorandum will bring to enhance the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Malta. He stated, “This provides a solid foundation for exploring many untapped opportunities in our bilateral relations.”
It is important to note that Uzbekistan and Malta established diplomatic relations on February 25, 1993. The recent meeting between Minister Saidov and Deputy Prime Minister Borg signifies the ongoing efforts to strengthen the ties between the two countries and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Through diplomatic engagements and bilateral discussions, Uzbekistan and Malta aim to deepen their cooperation and foster mutual understanding on various regional and international issues of common concern. This meeting serves as a positive step towards enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.
