Uzbekistan and Pakistan Discuss Trans-Afghan Railway

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan recently met with a delegation from Pakistan to discuss and deepen bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The meeting, which took place as part of the Economic Cooperation Organization summit events, was led by Prime Minister Anwaar ul-Haq Kakar.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed various issues related to deepening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on trade-economic, investment, and transport-communications spheres. They expressed satisfaction with the growing volumes of mutual trade turnover and cargo transportation, which have increased by 40% since the beginning of the year. Additionally, the two countries are currently working on cooperation projects in the textile, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries, having already created 20 joint ventures.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of adopting an industrial cooperation program, eliminating trade barriers, and creating favorable conditions for the development of business ties between the two countries. The potential for the Trans-Afghan Railway was discussed, and both parties exchanged views on regional issues.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in the bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, and both parties are looking forward to further strengthening their ties in the coming months and years.
