Uzbekistan and Russia Strive for $30 Billion in Trade Amid Advancing Energy Projects
President Putin and President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan recently met in Tashkent to discuss the strengthening of their countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership. During the meeting, agreements were signed to implement several key projects that will further enhance cooperation between the two nations.
One of the major agreements reached during the visit was the decision to build a low-power nuclear power station in Uzbekistan. This project will not only help meet the country’s energy needs but also advance its technological capabilities in the energy sector. Additionally, agreements were made to modernize Uzbekistan’s gas transportation system and increase the supply of gas, oil, and petroleum products.
The discussions between the two leaders focused on expanding cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields. Both President Putin and President Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations and emphasized the all-encompassing nature of their interstate cooperation.
To further enhance ties between the two countries, it was agreed to continue active engagement at various levels, including parliaments, governments, ministries, and business circles. Both parties also highlighted the importance of maintaining regular political consultations and close cooperation within international and regional structures.
The leaders also discussed the growth of mutual trade turnover, with plans to increase the trading volume from $10 billion to $30 billion in the near future. New industrial cooperation projects valued at over $20 billion were prepared in sectors like energy, metallurgy, petrochemistry, and more. A joint Investment Platform will be launched to advance these projects.
Overall, the visit marked the beginning of a new phase in the strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan. The agreements signed and discussions held during the meeting pave the way for further collaboration and mutual benefit between the two nations.
