Uzbekistan and South Korea Collaborate on Tashkent-Samarkand High-Speed Rail Project
Preparations Underway for Feasibility Study of High-Speed Railway Line Between Tashkent and Samarkand
In an effort to enhance transportation infrastructure in Uzbekistan, preparations are underway for a preliminary feasibility study (PFS) of a high-speed railway line that will significantly reduce travel time between Tashkent and Samarkand. The project, initiated by JSC Uzbekistan Railways in collaboration with South Korea’s Saman Corporation, was announced during discussions with project leader, Jin Kang.
The primary focus of the discussions was the initiation of the PFS for the construction of the new high-speed passenger railway line connecting Tashkent and Samarkand. This project, backed by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aims to modernize the country’s transportation system.
The new railway line is expected to not only reduce travel time between the two major cities but also enhance passenger comfort and improve the quality of transportation services. Both parties involved in the project highlighted the significance of this initiative in improving interregional connections, increasing passenger traffic, and expanding the number of high-speed train services.
It is anticipated that the implementation of this project will not only strengthen Uzbekistan’s economic development but also elevate the transportation sector to a new level. To expedite the preparation process for the feasibility study, a working group has been established as a result of the discussions.
