Uzbekistan and the United States Strengthen Business Ties with New Agreements
Uzbekistan and the United States have solidified their partnership with the signing of several new business agreements spanning various sectors. The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT) confirmed the successful negotiations between the two countries.
A delegation led by MIIT Minister Laziz Kudratov engaged in fruitful discussions with American business representatives on April 7. The talks focused on collaborations in the mining, hospitality, and food industries, leading to the signing of agreements that will shape future investments.
American companies presented concrete investment proposals during the meetings, expressing their admiration for Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms and their eagerness to enhance cooperation. The agreements reached include investments in the exploration and extraction of critical minerals, as well as the construction of high-pressure grinding roll (HPGR) ore processing complexes.
Furthermore, plans were made to establish professional training programs for Uzbek specialists, aimed at introducing innovative technologies and creating added value in the critical minerals industry. Additionally, timelines were set for tourism-related projects, such as the construction of new hotels, with project managers assigned to oversee the initiatives.
The extraction of critical minerals emerged as a key topic during the C5+1 Summit of Central Asian and U.S. leaders in September 2023. The United States reiterated its commitment to ensuring energy security with the support of Central Asian countries in the coming years.
In a significant step towards closer collaboration, Uzbekistan and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Critical Minerals in September 2024. The agreement, as outlined by the State Committee for Geology, aims to strengthen cooperation in geological exploration and mineral extraction.
The recent agreements between Uzbekistan and the United States signify a deepening partnership that promises mutual benefits and advancements in various industries. Both countries are poised to leverage their strengths and resources to drive economic growth and innovation in the years to come.
