Uzbekistan and UAE Forge Strategic Partnership with Declaration Signing

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met at the Qasr Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi on January 15. The leaders discussed various aspects of their countries’ relations, including politics, trade, economics, investment, innovation, and cultural and humanitarian collaboration.

During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and congratulated the UAE on the successful hosting of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The discussions highlighted the historical roots, traditions, and shared values between the peoples of Uzbekistan and the UAE, as well as their connection through the Islamic religion.

The visit was deemed a historic milestone in bilateral relations, establishing ties at the level of strategic partnership. In recent years, trade turnover, investment volumes, and joint ventures between the two countries have increased significantly. Both leaders emphasized the importance of advancing dialogue between their foreign ministries and outlined a new model of economic cooperation focusing on key areas such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, green energy, urban development, tourism, and private business.

A “New Era of Economic Cooperation” between Uzbekistan and the UAE for the years 2025-2027 was proposed, with the goal of increasing bilateral trade and expanding the investment portfolio. Efforts to strengthen business ties, cultural exchanges, and educational cooperation, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, were highlighted during the discussions.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, several important documents were signed, including a declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership, agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments, financial and technical cooperation, and cooperation in various sectors like industry, agriculture, and mineral resources. The leaders also discussed upcoming high-level events, including the second Central Asia-GCC Cooperation Council Summit scheduled to take place in Samarkand later this year.
