Uzbekistan Launches New Aircraft Production Project with Russian Collaboration
A significant new project is set to take flight in Uzbekistan, as a partnership with a Russian company aims to produce 100 small aircraft over the next three years in the Navoi region. The first aircraft is anticipated to be completed by October 2025.
In a recent memorandum of understanding, the administration of the Navoi Free Economic Zone (FEZ) formalized the collaboration with the Russian company, focusing on the manufacturing of unmanned aerial vehicles. Khabib Abdullayev, the head of the Navoi FEZ, shared these insights during an interview with Kun.uz.
The project carries an estimated value of $30 million, with plans to produce 100 aircraft within the designated timeline. Abdullayev emphasized that while the primary objective will be to meet domestic needs, there are also strong intentions to export these aircraft to various international markets.
The aircraft being developed is the SP-30 model, engineered by the Russian firm Pervoye Opytno-Konstruktorskoye Byuro (First Experimental Design Bureau). This lightweight, two-seater aircraft is designed for several applications, including agricultural use, pilot training, and recreational flying. With 100-horsepower engines, the SP-30 can achieve speeds of up to 150 km/h, making it both versatile and efficient for its intended uses.
This initiative not only represents a step forward in Uzbekistan’s aviation sector but also highlights the growing collaboration between Uzbekistan and Russia in innovative technology and manufacturing. The outcomes of this project could significantly impact the local economy and enhance the capabilities of the aviation industry within the region.
