The Uzbekistan Weightlifting Team Dominates Asian Championships
The Uzbekistan national team has emerged as the top-performing team at the recent Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent from February 3 to February 10. The team secured a total of 25 medals, including 8 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze medals, solidifying their dominance in the competition.
In addition to their impressive medal haul, the Uzbekistan team also topped the points classification, further solidifying their status as the best team in the competition, with South Korea and Chinese Taipei following closely behind in the standings.
Notably, the Uzbekistan male team also clinched the top spot in the male teams by points classification, showcasing their exceptional performance in the championships.
Some standout medalists from the Uzbekistan team include Akbar Djurayev, who secured 3 gold medals in the -102 kg category, Ruslan Nurudinov, who claimed 2 gold and 1 silver medals in the -109 kg category, and Nigora Suvonova, who excelled in the women’s -87 kg category with 1 gold and 2 silver medals.
