Uzbekistan Enhances Tourism Cooperation with Pakistan through new Visa Facilitation Center in Lahore
A new Visa Facilitation Center has been officially opened in Lahore, Pakistan, facilitating entry into Uzbekistan. The center, established in collaboration with the Uzbekistan Embassy in Pakistan and the “Meezab Group,” a prominent tourism company in the Punjab province, signifies a significant advancement in bolstering tourism relations between the two nations.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by regional officials from Punjab, diplomats, representatives from the tourism industry, media, and members of the public. Attendees were introduced to the rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and diverse tourism opportunities that Uzbekistan has to offer.
The introduction of regular direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore has been touted as a crucial factor in boosting tourist inflow between the two countries. A presentation showcased Uzbekistan’s potential across various tourism sectors, including pilgrimage, gastronomic, medical, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. Attendees showed keen interest in Uzbekistan’s architectural wonders, national cuisine, and top-notch service offerings.
The Uzbekistan Ambassador, Alisher Tukhtaev, participated in the event via an online platform, highlighting the tourism sector’s comprehensive reforms initiated by Uzbekistan’s leadership. He underscored Uzbekistan’s emergence as a sought-after destination for foreign tourists in recent years and accentuated the growing cooperation in tourism between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The Ambassador also shed light on Uzbekistan’s hospitable traditions and modern infrastructure tailored to cater to Pakistani tourists.
Pakistani tourism companies’ representatives engaged in discussions on prospective collaboration projects during the event. They expressed a strong desire to explore Uzbekistan as a travel destination, noting that the Visa Facilitation Center would streamline the visa application process and introduce new opportunities for Pakistani citizens desiring to visit Uzbekistan. The initiative is anticipated to enhance tourism cooperation and fortify cultural and economic bonds between the two countries.
