Uzbekistan Establishes Diplomatic Relations with Liechtenstein
The Principality of Liechtenstein has officially become the 146th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. The two nations signed a Joint Communiqué on March 5 in New York, solidifying their commitment to fostering mutual cooperation and collaboration.
Representatives from both countries, including Ulugbek Lapasov, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, and Christian Wenaweser, the Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to the UN, signed the document on behalf of their respective governments. This milestone agreement signifies a shared readiness to enhance joint interaction within international organizations, particularly within the UN and its specialized agencies.
The new diplomatic relationship paves the way for increased bilateral contacts aimed at exploring opportunities for cooperation in various sectors, including politics, trade, economy, and culture. The signing of this document marks a significant step in strengthening Uzbekistan’s ties with European nations and expanding its global partnerships.
Notably, this development comes on the heels of Uzbekistan’s recent establishment of diplomatic relations with Uganda on January 18, 2024. With Liechtenstein now on board, Uzbekistan continues to broaden its diplomatic network and forge new connections across the world.
