Uzbekistan Establishes Fees for Court Sentence Duplicates and Copies

President of Uzbekistan Signs Law Imposing Fee for Document Copies
The President of Uzbekistan has signed a new law aimed at strengthening guarantees of judicial independence, informing the public about the activities of courts, and ensuring unified judicial practice. As part of this law, amendments have been made to the “On state duty” law, which now includes a fee for duplicates and copies of sentences in criminal courts.
According to the new regulation, a fee of 2% BCA for each page of the document (equivalent to 6,800 UZS) will be charged for duplicates and copies of sentences in criminal courts. This fee came into effect on August 14.
It is important to note that according to Article 475 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Uzbekistan, a copy of the sentence must be provided to the convicted and acquitted individuals within a specified timeframe. If the volume of the sentence is significant, the deadline for providing a copy may be extended to 10 days. Other parties involved in the case can also request a copy of the verdict within the same timeframe.
In cases where the convict is detained, the administration of the place of detention is responsible for handing a copy of the sentence to the individual on the day of its receipt, with the delivery date and time being recorded and submitted to the court.
These new regulations aim to streamline the process of providing copies of sentences in criminal courts while also ensuring transparency and accountability in the judicial system of Uzbekistan.
