Uzbekistan experiences dramatic rise in electric vehicle imports
Uzbekistan Sees Increase in Electric Vehicle Imports, Dominated by Chinese Suppliers
The Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan has reported a significant increase in electric vehicle imports, showcasing a growing trend towards sustainable transportation in the country. From January to July of this year, Uzbekistan saw a 42% rise in the number of imported electric cars, with more than 10,540 vehicles being brought into the country during this time period.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of imported electric vehicles surged by 42.6%, indicating a growing interest in electric cars among Uzbek consumers. However, despite the increase in quantity, the value of electric vehicle imports actually dropped by 28.8% to $156 million.
China, one of the leading producers of electric vehicles, remains the dominant supplier to Uzbekistan, with its market share growing from 93% to 99.3% year-on-year. Other countries such as Hong Kong, Germany, and the UAE also contributed to the imports, although their combined share only accounted for 35 electric cars.
This data highlights the Chinese dominance in the electric vehicle market in Uzbekistan and points towards a continued growth in the adoption of electric cars in the country. As the world shifts towards more sustainable transportation options, Uzbekistan seems to be following suit with an increasing number of electric vehicles on its roads.
