Bishkek – 12:09, 26 October 2024 – Uzbekistan, like Kazakhstan, is interested in the construction of Kambarata HPP 1, according to Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Economy and Commerce, Daniyar Amangeldiev.

Speaking on Birinchi Radio, Minister Amangeldiev mentioned that in recent years, work on the construction of Kambarata HPP 1 has been progressing. He highlighted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as Kyrgyzstan’s partners downstream of the Naryn River, have shown significant interest in the project.

The cost of the project has already been calculated, with the country’s authorities allocating $7 million in 2023 to prepare for construction work. Minister Amangeldiev emphasized the need for Kyrgyzstan to develop its industry to utilize the generated electricity. The Cabinet of Ministers has prepared a program for large-scale industrial development, focusing on sectors such as mechanical engineering, electronics production, and the food industry.

To coordinate work on the Kambarata HPP 1 construction project, a special council was established in 2024. This council includes major investors like the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (WB), indicating strong support for the project’s advancement.
