Uzbekistan Importation of 48,000 Cars in Eight Months Led by China
Uzbekistan Sees Increase in Car Imports in 2024
According to recent data from the Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan imported a total of 48,055 passenger vehicles from abroad between January and August 2024, amounting to a total value of $912 million. This marks a significant increase of 8,352 vehicles compared to the same period in 2023, indicating a notable rise in car imports for the country.
Among the top suppliers of cars to Uzbekistan during this period, China emerged as the largest with 38,085 vehicles imported. South Korea followed closely behind with 8,729 cars, while the United States accounted for 622 imports. Japan and Germany were also key players in the market, with 139 and 104 vehicles imported, respectively.
The surge in car imports reflects the growing demand for foreign-made vehicles in Uzbekistan, with China maintaining its dominant position as the leading exporter to the country. This trend suggests a shift towards international automotive brands in the Uzbek market, as consumers seek a wider range of options and technologies in their vehicles.
As Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its economic ties with various countries, the automotive industry is likely to see further growth and diversification in the coming years. With a growing market for imported cars, both domestic and foreign manufacturers have the opportunity to capitalize on this demand and offer competitive options to consumers.
