Uzbekistan Intensifies Efforts to Bring Home Children Abandoned Overseas

Uzbekistan Repatriates 34 Children Left Without Parental Care Abroad

Uzbekistan has successfully repatriated 34 children who had been left without parental care abroad over the past two months, as reported by the National Agency for Social Protection.

The repatriation efforts were made possible through collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Health. In early October, four more children, three from Turkey and one from Russia, were brought back to Uzbekistan.

Upon their return, the National Agency for Social Protection acted swiftly to ensure the children’s placement with their families or close relatives. Two children were reunited with their parents, while one was placed under the guardianship of an aunt. For the fourth child, authorities are currently evaluating the situation and plan to assign temporary guardianship to close relatives until the mother returns from Russia.

In total, 89 Uzbek minors have been repatriated to their homeland this year, with 34 of them returning during the months of August and September. These children are now receiving essential social services at “Inson” social service centers located near their places of residence. Additionally, both the children and their families are receiving psychological and legal assistance as part of these services.
