Uzbekistan Granted Partner Status in BRICS Organization
Uzbekistan has officially been granted partner status in the BRICS organization, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. This announcement came after the recent BRICS summit held in Kazan.
The addition of Uzbekistan as a BRICS partner nation is significant, as it joins other newly recognized partners such as Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, and Vietnam. According to journalist Vladimir Solovyov, gaining partner status is seen as a crucial step towards potentially obtaining full membership in the bloc.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan was reported to have attended the BRICS summit in Kazan, where he engaged in discussions with prominent global leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
This development underscores Uzbekistan’s growing presence on the international stage and its increasing engagement with key players in the global community. It is anticipated that this new partnership status will open up new opportunities for cooperation and collaboration within the BRICS organization.
