Uzbekistan launches “golden visa” program for foreign nationals

Uzbekistan to Implement Simplified Procedure for Obtaining Residence Permits for Foreigners Starting June 1, 2025

Bishkek – 15:07, 21 April 2025 – The Ministry of Justice in Uzbekistan has announced that starting June 1, 2025, a simplified procedure will be implemented for foreign citizens and stateless persons to obtain a five-year residence permit. This decision comes as part of a presidential decree signed on April 18.

To obtain this residence permit, applicants will need to contribute $200,000, with an additional $100,000 required for each family member (spouse, children, and parents). The residence permit serves as an official document confirming that a foreign citizen or stateless person has been granted permission to reside permanently in Uzbekistan.

Currently, residence permits in Uzbekistan are issued to specific categories of citizens, including foreign citizens or stateless persons permanently residing in the country, individuals with a permit for permanent residence, and citizens of countries eligible for a residence permit upon purchasing real estate in various regions of Uzbekistan.

Since 2019, Uzbekistan has had a program in place to provide citizens from 109 countries with a residence permit upon the purchase of real estate for a specified amount. This new simplified procedure aims to make it easier for foreigners to obtain long-term residency in Uzbekistan.

For more information on the requirements and application process for the five-year residence permit in Uzbekistan, interested individuals are advised to consult the Ministry of Justice or relevant authorities in the country.
