Uzbekistan looks to Turkey for inspiration in developing mountain territories
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has been focusing on strengthening economic and investment cooperation with Turkey and Saudi Arabia, according to reports from the press service of the head of state.
During the president’s recent official visit to Turkey, 158 new projects worth $10.1 billion were formed following the third meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council. These projects span various sectors including industry, energy, mining, transport, healthcare, and agriculture. Plans were also discussed to expand trade and economic cooperation, reduce tariffs on certain products, and open a trade mission in Istanbul.
In addition, investment cooperation with Saudi Arabia is actively developing, with a total of 34 investment projects valued at $24.1 billion. Funds are set to be disbursed this year for various projects in sectors such as transport, digitalization, infrastructure, healthcare, and energy. Discussions were held on intensifying the activities of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council and starting work on new projects in areas like ecology, mining, and financial cooperation.
President Mirziyoyev has instructed officials to ensure the full and high-quality development of foreign investments, establish strict control over project implementation, and maintain a constant dialogue with investors. The goal is to create favorable conditions for investors and address any issues that may arise during project implementation.
Overall, Uzbekistan is making significant strides in expanding economic and investment ties with both Turkey and Saudi Arabia, with a focus on enhancing cooperation and fostering mutual benefits for all parties involved.
