
Uzbekistan National Football Team Given Warm Welcome in Tashkent

The Uzbekistan Olympic football team has returned home after making history at the U23 Asian Cup in Qatar. The team secured a historic Olympic berth for the country and was welcomed with a ceremony at the Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the Uzbekistan Football Association, athletes’ relatives, and members of the media.
Odil Abdurakhmonov, head of the Presidential Administration department, congratulated the team on their achievement and read out President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s message to the team. The original congratulatory letter was handed over to the team’s head coach, Timur Kapadze.
Both Timur Kapadze and team captain Jasur Jaloliddinov expressed their pride in representing Uzbekistan at the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
This success comes after the team won a silver medal at the U23 Asian Cup, which took place from April 15 to May 3, securing their first-ever qualification for the Olympics.
