Uzbekistan Streamlines Business Licensing Process

Uzbekistan to cancel 16 types of licenses and permits for business entities
Uzbekistan is set to simplify its business environment by canceling 16 types of licenses and permits for business entities starting from March 1, 2024. The decision, made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aims to reduce administrative barriers and facilitate easier business operations within the country.
According to gazeta.uz, 7 types of permits will be completely canceled, while 8 types will be canceled by combining them with others. Additionally, 3 more types of licenses and permits will be transferred to a notification format, eliminating the need for state registration to receive them. This means that activities such as operating as a travel agent will no longer require a license. Furthermore, remote assessment of license applicants and permits via video link will now be allowed.
The requirement for businesses to place $15,000 in the Safe Tourism Fund for outbound tourism has also been canceled. Moreover, legal entities will now have the option to choose the place of inspection for their vehicles.
The cancellation of licenses and permits is expected to result in significant cost savings for entrepreneurs. Government estimates suggest that nearly 350 billion soums per year will remain at the disposal of entrepreneurs as a result of these changes.
In addition to canceling licenses and permits, Uzbekistan has also scrapped 34 types of certificates and reports, enabling more than 21 thousand entrepreneurs to save 500 million soums annually. President Mirziyoyev has also instructed the introduction of a unified reporting system in light of these changes.
Overall, these measures are aimed at fostering a more business-friendly environment in Uzbekistan and are expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy and entrepreneurial landscape.
