Uzbekistan Strengthens Duty-Free Import Regulations for Dietary Supplements

New Regulations on Dietary Supplements and Duty-Free Imports in Uzbekistan
Starting July 20, 2025, Uzbekistan will implement new regulations concerning the import of dietary supplements, also known as biologically active additives (BAAs), for personal use. This development is part of a broader initiative aimed at refining customs regulations in the country.
In a significant policy update communicated through a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated April 19, authorities announced that duty-free import limits for tobacco and perfume products will also be revised. These changes reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing the regulations governing certain goods crossing the customs border.
Beginning May 1, 2025, individuals will face stricter duty-free import rules. The duty-free limit for goods brought in through airports will decrease from $2,000 to $1,000. Similarly, the limit for railway transport imports will be reduced from $1,000 to $500. Furthermore, the cap on courier shipments will shrink dramatically from $1,000 per quarter to just $200 per month. To qualify for these duty-free imports, travelers will also need to meet newly established minimum periods of stay abroad.
In addition to dietary supplements and tobacco, the resolution specifies duty-free allowances for a variety of other goods. For alcoholic beverages, the limit remains at 2 liters. However, new precise quantity limits for tobacco products are being introduced, replacing the previous general cap of 10 packs.
These regulatory changes signify a strategic move by the Uzbek government to tighten control over imports while ensuring the safety and quality of products entering the country. As these regulations come into effect, individuals planning to travel to Uzbekistan should familiarize themselves with the new limits to avoid potential customs issues.
