Uzbekistan Supports Ceasefire Agreement between Israel and Hamas
Uzbekistan has voiced its support for the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, as well as the exchange of hostages. The statement came from Akhror Burkhanov, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
In his statement, Burkhanov expressed Uzbekistan’s approval of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the hostage exchange, characterizing the agreements as vital steps towards reducing tensions and achieving peace in the region.
Burkhanov also commended the roles played by Qatar, the United States, and Egypt in facilitating the agreement and urged all parties to adhere to its terms.
Uzbekistan is dedicated to backing international endeavors aimed at ensuring stability and security in the Middle East, Burkhanov emphasized.
Recently, Israel and Hamas agreed to a 42-day ceasefire starting on January 19, with mediation from Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. Both sides have expressed their desire to put an end to the armed conflict, which has taken the lives of 46,000 Palestinians and approximately 1,500 Israelis over the past 15 months.
