Uzbekistan-Thailand Trade Volume Surges by 170% in First Half of Year
Acting Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Shokhrukh Gulomov, recently held a meeting with a Thai delegation led by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bussadi Santipitaks.
The delegation consisted of representatives from prominent Thai companies such as Samitivej Hospital, PTT Oil and Retail, Thai President Food, Siang Heng, Marine Tech International, CTI Logistics, and Anita Silk Company. During the meeting, the Thai delegation expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s visa-free regime for Thai citizens, allowing them to stay in the country for up to 60 days.
The discussions during the meeting highlighted the positive growth in mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Thailand, with a 170% increase in trade volume in the first half of the year. Both sides emphasized the importance of increasing the number of joint investment projects and aiming to reach a trade turnover of 500 million USD in the near future.
As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached to develop a plan of joint measures to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation. This includes implementing joint projects in various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, the food industry, and the production of textiles and electrical products.
Overall, the meeting between the Uzbekistan and Thai delegations laid the foundation for further collaboration and strengthening of economic ties between the two countries.
