Uzbekistan to Consolidate Utility Payments into Unified System
Uzbekistan to Consolidate Utility Services into a Single Package
Uzbekistan is set to streamline utility services by consolidating them into a single package within the next two years, as announced by Alisher Kodirov, chairman of the Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival) party.
The first phase of the reform will combine waste management and electricity payments, with plans to integrate gas and water payments in the future. Kodirov stressed that the goal of this initiative is to increase efficiency and enhance the quality of utility services nationwide.
“We will merge waste management and electricity payments into one system, followed by gas and water payments. The aim is to create a system that is effective in providing top-notch utility services,” Kodirov stated on his Telegram channel.
This move comes as Uzbekistan faces a significant issue with unpaid utility bills. By October of this year, the population’s debt for sanitation services alone had climbed to 585 billion UZS. The integration of payment systems is expected to improve collections and ensure a more consistent delivery of services.
In a report by Kun.uz in October, it was noted that individuals with overdue waste management bills would not be able to pay for electricity services, indicating the need for stricter measures to enforce payment compliance.
The consolidation of utility services into a single package is a step towards a more organized and efficient system that will benefit the people of Uzbekistan.
