Italian specialists will play a key role in the development of the leather cluster in Akhangaran, as per the latest agreements signed by Uzbek leather enterprises at the international Lineapelle exhibition in Milan.
The delegation from Uzbekistan made a strong impression at the event, showcasing samples of footwear and leather goods and engaging in fruitful negotiations with representatives from various companies. Discussions focused on both raw material exports and finished product exports.
Peng Sheng, a factory in the Syrdarya region, attracted interest from suppliers in Portugal, Turkey, India, and Indonesia with their shoe samples. Notably, a Chinese distributor, Tommy Hilfiger, expressed interest in products made with non-toxic materials.
Hamkor Nur Savdo, a leather producer, sealed agreements to sell raw (wet blue) and dried (crust) materials to companies in Portugal and Spain. They also inked an export contract worth $2 million with an Italian firm.
Ulkan Laziz, another Uzbek company, is set to supply special footwear to the Hungarian Tisza Cipo Group, with a contract worth $2.5 million expected to be signed during an upcoming visit to Hungary.
Moreover, discussions were held with the National Association of Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturers of Italy (Assomac) to provide technical support to Uzbek enterprises. Plans are underway to open a service center in Uzbekistan to enhance this support.
Assomac will also act as a technical partner for the leather industrial zone in the Akhangaran district of the Tashkent region. Italian experts will offer consultations on cluster development and project placement.
Acting head of Uzcharmsanoat, Akbar Sultanov, also discussed the supply of production chemicals with the leadership of the Iranian Leather Industry Association. Iran expressed interest in purchasing processed sheep skins from Uzbekistan, further strengthening international collaborations in the leather industry.
