Uzbekistan to Implement Random Selection System for Vehicle License Plates Starting August 1

New System of Randomly Selecting License Plates to be Implemented in Uzbekistan

In a move aimed at ensuring road safety on highways, the government of Uzbekistan has announced a new system of randomly selecting license plates for vehicles. Starting from December 1, applications for vehicle registration and license plate issuance can be submitted online.

According to a resolution adopted on July 17, vehicle license plates will be issued through a random selection process starting from August 1. This decision marks a departure from the current practice of issuing license plates in sequential order, with the exception of “special numbers” that are sold through auctions.

Under the new procedure, license plates will be automatically generated through the “License Plates” module of the Unified Automated Information System of the Road Traffic Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

From December 1, applications for vehicle registration and license plate issuance, as well as payments, can be made through the Traffic Safety Service’s mobile app, the service’s official website, the Call Center, or the Unified Interactive State Services Portal (my.gov.uz).

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to improve road safety and streamline the process of vehicle registration in Uzbekistan. It is expected to bring greater efficiency and fairness to the issuance of license plates, ultimately benefiting both drivers and the wider community.
