Uzbekistan to Introduce Direct Bus Routes to China and Beyond
The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan has announced plans to launch new international bus routes in an effort to increase the share of bus travel in cross-border transportation. These new routes will connect various regions of Uzbekistan to cities in Central Asia, China, and Russia.
One notable addition to these plans is the proposed route from Uzbekistan to China, which will run from Nukus through Urgench, Bukhara, and end in Urumqi. Other proposed international routes include connections to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
The routes to Kazakhstan will include Bukhara to Turkestan, Urgench to Aktau, and Fergana to Almaty (via Tajikistan). In Tajikistan, there will be routes from Samarkand to Dushanbe and Bukhara to Dushanbe. For Kyrgyzstan, routes will run from Andijan to Osh, Andijan to Jalal-Abad, Andijan to Arslanbob, Kasansay to Jalal-Abad, and Bukhara to Bishkek. Russia will have routes from Surkhandarya to Moscow (via Bukhara, Urgench, and Nukus), Urgench to Ufa (via Nukus), Nukus to Krasnodar, Tashkent to Ufa, and Tashkent to Krasnodar.
Transportation companies interested in operating these and other potential routes on a reciprocal basis are invited to submit their proposals to the Ministry. Stay tuned for updates on these new international bus routes that will provide more options for travelers in the region.
