Uzbekistan’s Consumer Sector Grapples with 10.6% Inflation Rate in May

The annual growth rate of prices in the consumer sector has reached 10.6 percent, according to recent data released by the Statistics Agency. In May 2024, prices for goods and services in the consumer sector saw an average increase of 2.8 percent compared to the previous month.

Within the composition of the consumer price index, prices for food products decreased by an average of 2.0 percent, non-food goods by 0.3 percent, and paid services to the population saw an average increase of 15.2 percent in May 2024.

To compile these calculations, more than 10,000 trade points and service institutions were surveyed, recording prices for over 120,000 items. The prices for 420 types of food and non-food products and 90 types of services were closely monitored.
