Uzbekistan’s Fastest-Growing Population Regions Revealed by Statistics Agency

The population in various regions of Uzbekistan is rapidly increasing, with the city of Tashkent leading the way. As of April 22, 2024, the permanent population of the country has surpassed 37 million people, marking a 2.1 percent growth compared to the previous year.
According to data from the Statistics Agency, Tashkent has seen a population growth of 2.7 percent, followed by Surkhandarya and Namangan regions with growth rates of 2.5 percent and 2.2 percent respectively. Other regions such as Samarkand, Kashkadarya, Andijan, Fergana, Jizzakh, Navoi, Khorezm, Tashkent, Syrdarya, Bukhara, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan have also experienced varying levels of population growth ranging from 1.4 percent to 2.2 percent.
This increase in population indicates a growing urbanization trend in Uzbekistan, with more people choosing to settle in cities and larger towns. The government will need to address the challenges that come with this population growth, such as providing adequate housing, infrastructure, and public services to ensure the well-being of its residents.
