Uzbekistan’s Foreign Investment Booms with China and Russia Leading the Way

The number of foreign-invested companies in Uzbekistan continues to rise, with Chinese investors leading the way. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, as of March 1, the country had a total of 15,503 foreign-invested firms. This marked an increase of 340 compared to the previous month, demonstrating a rapid pace of growth.

Chinese investors remain the top contributors, with 3,576 firms operating in Uzbekistan. This reflects an increase of 109 companies from February, showing the continued interest and commitment of Chinese businesses in the country’s market.

Following closely behind is Russia, with 3,016 joint ventures and subsidiaries. Russian companies added 43 new entities last month, solidifying their position as the second largest group of foreign investors in Uzbekistan.

Türkiye ranks third with 1,899 firms, showing a growth of 30. Kazakh investors have also been expanding their presence, now holding 1,082 enterprises, up by 22 in a month. South Korean businesses demonstrated a more modest increase, reaching 662 companies, just two more than in February.

The UAE follows with 347 enterprises, Tajikistan with 329, and India with 316. The number of U.S.-backed companies grew by four, totaling 307, while Kyrgyzstan rounds out the top ten with 303 enterprises.

Overall, the influx of foreign investment in Uzbekistan shows the growing interest of international businesses in the country’s market. With Chinese and Russian companies leading the way, Uzbekistan continues to attract foreign investors from a diverse range of countries.
