Uzbekistan’s Saida Mirziyoyeva Advocates for Afghan Women’s Education at Qatar Forum

The Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, recently took part in a roundtable discussion held in Qatar to commemorate the International Day to Protect Education from Attack.

During the event, she expressed her gratitude to Her Excellency Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned for the invitation, stating that it was a great honor for her to participate in the discussion.

Uzbekistan has placed a strong emphasis on the quality of education, especially in ensuring that girls and women have access to knowledge. The country’s efforts in this regard extend beyond national borders.

In 2018, a vocational education center was established in the city of Termez on the President’s initiative. Nearly 700 Afghan citizens have received education there, with 200 of them being women. This initiative is crucial for Afghanistan, as there is a significant lack of qualified medical personnel in the country, particularly for protecting the health of mothers and children.

Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized the importance of continuing to educate Afghan girls and women in essential professions to avoid a humanitarian crisis. The Qatari government and the Education Above All foundation have expressed their willingness to assist in this endeavor.

Despite the challenges posed by the current situation, Uzbekistan is committed to dedicating its resources to achieving this goal.

It was highlighted during the discussion that free and unrestricted access to education is vital for the protection of women.

Various images from the roundtable discussion were shared, showcasing the commitment and dedication of all parties involved in promoting education and empowering women.
